Models, models everywhere, And sculpted clay does sink; Models, models everywhere, But all they do is blink.

We interrupt the work on the E46 wagon to bring you this news flash: I have quieted down the monkeys. When I was preparing to go to the Vintage (which is literally another story), I had the very happy problem of deciding which car to take. As part of the decision process, I pulled the ’72 2002tii out from where it had been stored over the winter and took it for a spin.

It has been four weeks since my last race at Laguna Seca, and it will be another four weeks until my next race at Watkins Glen. The first three races this year have had about a month and a half of down-time in between each one, so I’m sure that most of you are wondering what I do with all of this extra time.

One of the longest single chapters in my book Memoirs of a Hack Mechanic is the one titled The Rhythm Of Repair. In it, I describe some of the dynamics that occur over and over again in fixing a car. I have found that it is far more relaxing, and thus far more enjoyable, to work on a car that is not a daily driver.

I’ve been a fairly busy guy over the last month and a half, with a Formula E race, two Tudor Championship races, and the Red Bull Global Rallycross media day with 2011 BMW Club Racing National Champion Geoff Sykes. Then there was a business trip to Richmond, Virginia, before I spent a few days in Lake Tahoe for a photo shoot, and most recently I was at Bimmerfest West at Auto Club Speedway to manage the BMW CCA booth.
