BMW News

Somewhere in a four-story Munich facility is a humidity-controlled storage-and-maintenance facility that is normally off limits to all but a privileged few. What’s in it? Wonderful things, to steal a line from Howard Carter when he first gazed upon the treasures in King Tut's tomb. More specifically, BMWs—lots of them. Really cool cars: the decades-spanning inventory of milestone cars and experimental vehicles that form the archives of BMW Classic. (A V16 7 Series? A V12 Z3? Because we can, mein herr.)

How about BMW’s basement?

There exists in Munich an underground, humidity-controlled storage and maintenance facility that is normally off-limits to the all but a privileged few. What might you see there? Wonderful things, to steal a line from Howard Carter when he first gazed upon the treasures in King Tut’s tomb.

The German magazine Grip was able to secure a tour of the facility and they filmed it. The video is 27 minutes long, all the dialogue is in German, there are no subtitles, and they may spend a little too much time on movie cars, but we think you’ll enjoy looking anyway.—Scott Blazey
