On November 7–8, the BMW Performance Center held the Legends at VIR Ultimate Driving Program at scenic and challenging Virginia International Raceway. The highlight of the program was the hot-lap session, providing rides in the 2004 Grand-Am BMW M3 GT-2 with Boris Said and with Bill Auberlen in the 2011 ALMS-winning E92 M3 GT, which took seven podium finishes in its first ten races.
Boris Said was the first and only American driver to win the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Said joined the BMW Prototype Technology Group race team for the 1995 season racing in the 24 Hours of Daytona. Said raced with BMW PTG during the 1996–2001, 2004–2005 seasons and with BMW Turner Racing during the 2010–2013 ALMS seasons and during the 2015 Tudor Sports Car Challenge season. Here he is taking a lap in the E46 M3 GT-2.
Bill Auberlen needs no introduction as he has more BMW races under his belt than any other driver in history. Auberlen is second among all North American endurance sports car racing wins with 53. Auberlen has won six professional auto racing championships, four behind the wheel of a BMW and is currently competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Series with the Team BMW RLL #25 M6 GTLM. Bill hopped in his old E92 M3 GT to show particpants how to lap VIR.
