The next-generation BMW 7 Series will become the this-generation BMW 7 Series on June 10. That's the day BMW will officially reveal its newest flagship luxury sedan, the 2016 G11 7 Series. Here is the teaser video BMW just put up on its YouTube channel:

We already know a lot about the new 7. It’s more than 370 pounds lighter than its predecessor, due in large part to extensive use of lightweight aluminum and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The 7 Series will be powered by engines from BMW’s new B series of powerplants, with two- and three-liter engines, and at least one version will be a plug-in hybrid. We know the infotainment displays will be touchscreens and certain functions will be controlled using hand gestures. BMW LaserLight headlights will be available.

BMW revealed many of the features coming on the new 7 Series this past April, in another YouTube video:

Production of the G11 7 Series will not begin until November of this year. While a select few prospective owners have already seen the new 7 during an invitation-only presentation, most of us will not see the car in person until September at the earliest, when it will be one of the stars at the BMW stand in the Frankfurt International Auto Show. But on June 10, the rest of us will get a pretty good idea of what it looks like.—Scott Blazey
