If you’ve always wanted a BMW racecar with provenance, here it is, but you should get your $1,606,000 together and head to Dubai before someone else buys it out from under you.

For sale in Dubai is a BMW-Sauber Formula 1 car ostensibly driven by Nick Heidfeld during the 2006 Formula 1 season. The seller says it’s in perfect condition, inside and out, although since this is an open-wheel car, inside is pretty much outside as well.

The ad talks about Heidfeld’s 2006 season with eighteen starts and one third-place finish, but it’s not clear what—if any—races Heidfeld drove in this particular car. Still, an intact BMW-Sauber F1 car in perfect—or even excellent—condition is worth a lot of money. The seller thinks it’s worth 5,900,000 United Arab Emirates Dirham, which at today’s exchange rate is about $1,606,000.

According to the classified ad, this chassis has the BMW P86 V8 engine mated to a seven-speed sequential transmission with a carbon-fiber clutch. The car weighs just over 1,300 pounds with a skinny driver.

BMW-Sauber finished the 2006 Formula 1 season fifth in the Constructors’ Championship with 36 points.

Here it is at last: The perfect decoration for your racing-oriented man cave. Or more appropriately, your man cavern if you can fit this in it.—Scott Blazey
