Dane Cameron and Markus Palttala in the #94 Turner Motorsport Z4 finished sixth in the GTD class in the 100-minute Tudor United SportsCar Championship race on the Belle Isle street circuit in Detroit. Cameron and Palttala were coming off a win in the TUSC Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca two-hour race in early May.

Palttala ran second on his stint, but the car lost several positions on its single pit stop, returning to the circuit eighth in class. Cameron got the car back up to sixth before the end of the race. The class win went to the Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Allesandro Balzan and Jeff Westphal.

The GTD class runs again in the series’ six-hour enduro at Watkins Glen on June 29.

The Turner team suffered a major loss earlier in the week, as Linda Turner, Will Turner’s mother, died of pancreatic cancer at age 68. Always a presence in the Turner paddock, she managed travel and logistics for the team. We offer our condolences to Will Turner, his family, and the team.—Brian S. Morgan
