Gary Watkins reports on autosport.com that BMW is developing an M6 to replace the Z4 in GT3 and GTLM competition. There is no official confirmation from BMW Motorsport; Watkins says that “the German manufacturer is known to be designing the new car.”

Watkins indicates that the M6 would be available for delivery for competition in 2016. He says (consistent with what Roundel has been told) that the Z4 will be used in 2015.

Why an M6 rather than an M4? Watkins contends that BMW “does not want to confuse the marketing message by using the M4 because it is its chosen silhouette in the DTM.”
