Fall-Line M3 is Fourth in GS

Ted Giovanis and David Murry piloted the Team TGM E90 328i to a third place finish in the Street Tuner class in the BMW Performance 200, the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season opener at Daytona.

Trent Hindman, last year’s Grand Sport drivers’ champion, and Ashley Freiberg, co-driver of the winning M3 in last year’s season opener, finished fourth in the GS class in the #46 Fall-Line M3.

Giovanis handed TGM’s E90 328i to Murry in ninth; Murry dropped back to fourteenth with an electrical problem that forced him to shut down and restart at speed. After that the car was fine and he powered through traffic to reach the podium. He was running just behind James Clay at the end, but found his way by when Clay got caught in traffic. Clay and Jason Briedis finished fifth in the #84 BimmerWorld F30, while Terry Borcheller and Mike LaMarra finished sixth in class in the #23 Burton Racing 128i. The class win went to Spencer Pumpelly and Luis Rodriguez Jr. in an RSI Porsche Cayman.

The #46 Fall-Line car was the only M3 in the Grand Sport pack. The team’s second M3, driven by Al Carter and Corey Lewis, was damaged when Lewis went off in Friday morning practice, and could not be repaired in time to start the race. The TLSS Motorsports M3 driven by Ken D’Arcy and Sam Schultz did not start because the car was down on power; D’Arcy said that it was five seconds off the pace it had run in the Roar Before the Rolex 24 practice sessions earlier in the month.
