BMW NA tested the M6 GTLM and the M6GT3 in private tests at Sebring in advance of the first public test for the two cars on November 17-18 at Daytona.

Bill Auberlen, Dirk Werner, and John Edwards drove the M6 GTLM (the car pictured here) at Sebring along with Kuno Wittmer, who has signed with BMW NA to drive the car in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, and the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta. BMW Junior and Fall-Line M3racer Trent Hindman was also at Sebring, where he drove last year’s Z4 GTLM.

Auberlen, Edwards, Lucas Luhr, and DTM racer Bruno Spengler will drive the M6 GTLM next week at Daytona.

Photos of the M6 GT3 at Sebring have been posted on the BMW USA Motorsport Facebook site. The car will be entered at Daytona by Turner Motorsport, and will be driven by Jens Klingmann, Maxime Martin and Marco Wittmann.

BMW NA’s release on the Sebring test did not include any technical information on the M6 GTLM and how it differs from the M6 GT3. Sportscar365.com indicates that the major differences between the two cars are the rear wing, the brakes, and some electronics. IMSA recently announced that it would regulate GT3 cars’ weight and horsepower to give the GTLM cars a four percent performance advantage.—Brian S. Morgan
