Our Biltmore star car of the week comes from the same designer that brought us the BMW Isetta. The Iso Grifo is a cousin to the Isetta, the Corvette, the Ferrari—and believe it or not, great Italian refrigerators!

This Italian Grand Tourer automobile is one of only 412 made, and came new with air conditioning, Borrani wire wheels, power windows, AM/FM/SW radio, and full leather interior. With over 400 horsepower and a vehicle weight of less than 2,200 pounds, the Grifo was able to reach speeds over 171 mph.

Current owner Darren Frank purchased this car in 1989. His affection for the car can be traced back to his father who purchased a different new Iso Grifo from the Iso factory in 1966. This car was the subject of a complete restoration that spanned from 1995–1998 and has been driven and enjoyed ever since. This particular car has been the subject of various magazines, newspaper, television stories and is currently the subject of a documentary film in production.

This 1969 Iso Grifo is worth the price of a ticket by itself.  Your ticket to the event includes entrance to the Biltmore Mansion as well as access to 150 other important cars. Thank you Darren Frank for bringing your Iso to share with the BMW CCA members on the lawn of the Biltmore.
