The BMW Future Vision Luxury concept car, which was revealed earlier this year, will make its North American debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

If you’re traveling to Pebble Beach for the concours this year, look for BMW’s long-term idea of modern automotive luxury—the BMW Future Vision Luxury concept—at the BMW press conference on Thursday, August 14, at the BMW Villa in Pebble Beach, and then on Sunday on the concours' Concept Car lawn.

In the BMW Future Vision Luxury concept, BMW says it is presenting a car that combines innovative lightweight construction, integrated driving-and-information interfaces for the driver and passengers, top-of-the-line luxury features and comfort, and the latest technology in all areas, such as front and rear lighting.

“Innovative technology and modern luxury have always been an important part of BMW’s brand DNA,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “We use visionary concept vehicles like the BMW Vision Future Luxury to show where we may be going with these themes in the future, and to give us new inspiration and motivation. The BMW Vision Future Luxury’—with its innovative technologies and with meticulous precision and quality in every detail—takes our thinking on modern luxury a logical stage further.”

The BMW Future Vision Luxury incorporates materials and technologies that are becoming BMW hallmarks, such as carbon-fiber and lightweight-aluminum construction, proactive driver and passenger information and entertainment interfaces, head-up displays, and advanced aerodynamic design.

But wait, there’s more. Separate driver and passenger displays, real-time traffic light phasing information, rear seat touch command tablets that communicate with the front displays, retractable rear tables, BMW Laserlight, and rear organic LED taillights make the BMW Future Vision Luxury not only a display of what’s possible, but probably a preview of what we may see in the near future on new BMWs, especially the 7 Series.
