One hundred discerning audiophiles will have the opportunity to drive a unique car that combines top-of-the-line driving performance with unparalleled listening pleasure. BMW has launched the 2015 BMW Individual 6 Series Gran Coupé Bang & Olufsen Edition, which showcases the design and engineering ability of two luxury-sector manufacturers.
Production is limited to 100 BMW 650i Gran Coupe models equipped with either rear wheel drive or BMW xDrive, and powered by a BMW TwinPower Turbo V-8. If the 650i or 650xi Gran Coupe is not sporty enough, customers can fight over ten BMW M6 Gran Coupe “Bang & Olufsen Edition” cars. The special M6 Gran Coupes come with the Competition Package, which raises its output from 560 to 575 hp. Orders are being taken now on a first-come-first-served basis with deliveries this summer.
The “Bang & Olufsen” editions are offered in two BMW Individual colors—Brilliant White Metallic or Dark Graphite II Metallic.
The interior is lined with handcrafted Merino Leather in either Black with Contrast Stitching and Piping, or Opal White and Black with Contrast Stitching and Piping. The leather design is complimented by Piano Black Wood Trim with a “Bang & Olufsen” inlay on the front cup-holder lid, and specially designed floor mats. An M logo is embroidered on the front seat headrests in the M6 Gran Coupe version.
Most BMW enthusiasts would consider a unique edition 6 Series or M6 special by itself, just for the extreme performance and comfort. If there is such a thing as “more special,” then these cars are it, especially for audiophiles. At the core of these machines is the Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound System with special loudspeaker grilles in a brushed black aluminum finish—seen for the first time on this edition. With sixteen active loudspeakers driven by 1,200 watts, the Bang & Olufsen system matches the level of audio performance to the automotive performance for which BMW’s flagship coupes are known.
In addition to the sound system, the “Bang & Olufsen Edition” 650i and 650xi Gran Coupes contain an impressive list of standard equipment, including the Cold Weather Package and the M Sport Edition, which itself comprises the M Sport Package, Executive Package, LED Lighting Package, and Driver Assistance Plus Package. The ten M6 Gran Coupe “Bang & Olufsen Editions" also are fully loaded with standard equipment and the high-performance Competition Package, Executive Package, and Driver Assistance Plus Package.
Every BMW Individual “Bang & Olufsen Edition” also comes with a set of black BeoPlay H6 high-end headphones finished in the same brushed aluminum treatment as the car’s loudspeaker grilles.
If you’re quick and they’re not sold out, the 650i Gran Coupe “Bang & Olufsen Edition” cars can be had for $116,240. The 650xi Gran Coupe “Bang & Olufsen Edition” will list for $119, 240, and the M6 Gran Coupe “Bang & Olufsen Edition” has an MSRP of $152,423.
