If you thought the BMW M4 GTS was hard to get, we hope you don’t have your heart set on a BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition.

German driver Marco Wittman just won the 2016 DTM driver’s championship in the series’ finale at the Hockenheimring. The title makes Wittman the only BMW driver to win two DTM titles.

To celebrate this motorsports milestone, BMW is launching the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition. Worldwide sales of this special car is limited to 200 units. BMW’s press release did not specify how many might come to the U.S., but we’re guessing—none. Even though BMW fans all over the world follow the DTM series, it is, after all, a European touring car series so we suspect most of these limited-edition cars will stay there.

The price for cars available right away in Germany is €148,500 ($163,090).

“Congratulations to Marco Wittmann, his team RMG and the entire crew from BMW Motorsport,” says Frank van Meel, President of BMW M GmbH. “We have the pleasure of honoring Marco’s performance by producing a BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in 2016 to mark his winning the DTM driver’s title. Never before has one of our edition models been so closely linked to motor racing.”

While the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition looks unique, we’ve seen something very similar before, only in different livery. It looks very much like the BMW M4 GTS, only in Alpine White with different-color wheels, Motorsport DTM stripes, a white roll cage, and different interior trim.

Performance-wise, the DTM Champion Edition is pretty much the same as the GTS, since they share the same drivetrain including the M4 GTS’ water injection. Zero to 62 miles per hour happens in 3.8 seconds and since they both have the competition driver’s package, top speed is 190 miles per hour instead of the standard electronically limited 155.

Congratulations to Marco Wittman, BMW Motorsports, and the 200 lucky owners who snag one of these beauties.—Scott Blazey
