BMW News

A few months back LEGO released a new kit for car enthusiasts, it was a classic British Racing Green MINI Cooper. One BMW fan is trying to create the next BMW Group classic car LEGO kit with his BMW E30 M3 project.

Amir Abadi is an engineering student at San Francisco State University who loves the classic lines of the BMW E30 M3. Last year he downloaded the LEGO Digital Designer program and spent the next three months designing his dream car. It took four months to source all the parts needed to complete his build.

He was able to create one of the best LEGO BMW E30 M3 replicas we've seen so far! His model features all the right elements including the fantastic box flared fenders, front splitter, and rear spoiler. He didn't just stop at the exterior though, as he designed a great interior too which includes a perfect tan color with seats that feature a harness pass-through hole.

Amir didn't just build this for himself though, while building the project on LEGO Digital Designer, he discovered LEGO Ideas. The Ideas program allows LEGO fans to share their projects and vote on their favorites. If a project proposal receives 10,000+ supporters, it will qualify for a review by LEGO. The review board consists of set designers and marketing representatives that will evaluate the project and decide if it will become a new LEGO Ideas set.

The project currently has a little over 1,000 supporters. With 233 days left, there should be plenty of time to round up enough BMW fans to get it to the review stage!—Nate Risch
