This past Saturday night, the Allegheny Chapter was presented with the prestigious Club of the Year Award during their Post Holiday Party at Bobby Rahal BMW. The award presented by the BMW Clubs International Council, recognizes accredited clubs across the globe for their outstanding achievements. Clubs—and in our case chapters—are considered for the award based on achievements such as an increase in membership, socially responsible activities, or events that raise the bar for everyone. Special attention is also given to Clubs who create events that promote cooperation between BMW Clubs and BMW. Chapters and clubs across the world are nominated for the award by their umbrella organizations—or the national board in our case.

BMW CCA President, Steve Johnson, and BMW CCA Executive Director, Frank Patek, were on hand to present the award Saturday night along with the entire national board. Accepting the award on behalf of the Allegheny Chapter were President George Snyder and his wife Johna Snyder, the chapter’s newsletter editor. In addition, chapter Vice-President Brett Sutton and his wife Dee Sutton, who serves on the National Awards Committee, were on hand.

The Allegheny Chapter is known for their support of the annual Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, which has raised millions of dollars for the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School. The chapter hosts a very large corral and hospitality area every year at the Grand Prix that benefits the PVGP charities.  If you are unfamiliar with the event, make sure to check out the video below and make plans to join the Allegheny Chapter for this amazing event in 2016. —Chris Hennecy
