Prepare to unleash your Mini during the dog days of summer

Mini drivers who are ready for the ultimate road trip can rejoice: Registration for the 2014 Mini Takes The States (MTTS) is officially open! The registration fee for adults is $45. Pets and kids under twelve are free.

MTTS is the largest official Mini road rally for owners. Held every other year, the event starts in San Francisco, California, on July 26, and winds its way through fourteen states over a two-week period, ending in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 10.

“We’ve seen so much excitement and anticipation from the Mini community online and on our social channels that we really hope this year’s Mini Takes The States sets a new record,” said David Duncan, vice president of Mini of the Americas.  “This will be my third Mini Takes The States, and I’m calling on all owners to come out and motor with us. You won’t be sorry!”

Mini USA will provide Mini owners and enthusiasts with genuine, once-in-a-lifetime motoring experiences and daily activities.  An early look at some of the fun and daily stop locations is already up on

Best Friends Animal Society is the charitable partner for MTTS 2014. A portion of the proceeds from event registration fees will be donated to Best Friends in their endeavor to Save Them All®. Pets are welcome on this year’s MTTS.

Valuable partners have stepped up to sponsor Mini Takes the States 2014. So far, these include Intercontinental Hotels Group®, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Mini Financial Services, Mini Card®, and New Peeps® minis™.

For Mini owners who love to drive and hang with other Mini nuts, this has to be a blast. Think of it like the Cannonball Run, from west to east, and slower, but with fewer speeding tickets and way more fun.—Scott Blazey
