Fifteen BMW CCA members from around the country met at the BMW Performance Center in early March to experience the first of four two-day M Schools offered exclusively to Club members.

Participating members, who came from California, New Jersey, Indiana, and Montana, were excited to try out the new F10 M5 and the brand-new M6. They discovered that the new 560-horsepower M6, in particular, was rocket-like in its performance, and striking in appearance, in San Marino Blue, Sakhir Orange, and Alpine White Metallic. Our members were some of the first to drive these gorgeous cars!

On the first day, the instructors emphasized developing high-performance driving capabilities on the slalom, handling track, and wet skid pad. The timed-runs on the track challenged even the best driver to master the horsepower of these M cars. Day two raised the stakes evener higher and taught participants advanced driving techniques like trail-braking, and demanding cornering transitions while driving nearly the full course of the Performance Center.

What really distinguishes these Performance Center programs from other driving schools is the level of professional instruction. Club member J. Murray Clark from the Hoosier Chapter summed it up best. “The instructors were fantastic: extraordinarily knowledgeable, consistent, patient, friendly, very instructive, perhaps most importantly able to communicate in a way that delivered the message succinctly and clearly yet never patronizing or condescending.“
