Montoya and McMurray will be back in a Daytona Prototype at the Brickyard

Chevron will sponsor a second Dinan Riley-BMW for Ganassi Racing when the Grand-Am Rolex Series runs at Indianapolis on July 27. The car will be driven by Ganassi’s NASCAR drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Jamie McMurray, who last ran for the team in Grand-Am at the Rolex 24 in January.

Montoya and McMurray will run alongside current Rolex Series drivers’ points leaders Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas in the other Ganassi Daytona Prototype.

This will be the first Grand-Am race at Indy, a circuit where Ganassi has a strong track record in other series. His team’s history includes five overall wins in the Indy 500, including this year’s victory by Dario Franchitti, and a win in the 2010 NASCAR Brickyard 400.

Ganassi’s Grand-Am team is running on Saturday at Road America. Qualifying was rained out today, so points leaders Pruett and Rojas will start from the pole. The race will be televised live on Speed at noon eastern time.—Brian S. Morgan, motorsports editor, bmwcca.org
