BMW News

BMW’s revolutionary new plug-in hybrid sports car, the i8, will start arriving at U.S. dealerships in July 2014. Base price will be $135,700 plus destination and handling fee; however, new owners may be able to lower the ownership cost with an electric vehicle credit on their federal income taxes.

The first production run is reported to be sold out. If you’re lucky, you might see a new BMW i8 in your dealer’s delivery area starting this July when it’s being picked up by its new owner.

If you’re even luckier, you could win your very own BMW i8 at the BMW Car Club of America’s Oktoberfest at Beaver Creek, Colorado, in June.

On Tuesday, June 17, the BMW CCA Foundation will hold it’s first ever golf tournament at Oktoberfest. One of the par 3 holes has been designated the “Win a BMW i8” hole. Make a hole in one on that hole and the i8 is yours. It’s just that simple. Not easy, but simple. Look at it this way, you hit the ball off the tee and the ball has to go somewhere. Why not in the hole?

Despite the tremendous demand for the new BMW sports car, BMW of North America—an Oktoberfest sponsor—has made available a BMW i8 allocation for this contest, so everyone who enters has a real chance to win an i8.

Who knows? When dealers start making BMW i8 deliveries to new owners in July, one of them might be yours.—Scott Blazey
