Members of the BMW CCA Foundation Board attending the inaugural meeting at the Foundation's new building received an unexpected surprise. Bruce Hazard, president of the BMW CCA, announced that the BMW Clubs International Council has chosen the Foundation as the winner of the 2013 Club of the Year Award at its recent meeting in Slovenia.

Ian Branston, who recently stepped down as chairman of the International Council after ten years in that office, was on hand to make the presentation to the BMW CCA Foundation Board president, Leo Newland. In congratulating the Board, Branston—now a resident of Greenville, South Carolina noted that while other International Council awards recognize the efforts of individuals or couples, the Club of the Year Award—now in its second year—recognizes the collective efforts of many people.

In this case, the BMW CCA Foundation has been recognized for its program of preserving and archiving the history of BMW and in particular the exceptional efforts in delivering the Tire Rack Street Survival training to teenagers across the country.
