There we were, meandering up I-75 toward Atlanta and about to reach the Georgia line, where we were all but guaranteed to meet a wall of traffic. Death and taxes are certainties, but you might as well add one more.

During the Louie adventure, as you know if you’ve been following this saga, I made the thousand-mile trip from Louisville to Boston with the car still wearing its original 45-year-old radiator that was probably as corroded internally as the original water pump and thermostat were.

I think it is safe to say that the last few months have been pretty crazy for me. As those of you who follow my career may already know, I have been working tirelessly to get behind the wheel of a race car again. Auto racing is a funny sport; although you do need the skill, having the money to race is really the major limiting factor for me right now.

When last we left my attempted windshield-gasket replacement, I tried the vaunted “rope trick,” then spent an hour manually “flipping the lip” with an improvised tool, because the rope trick isn’t always effective in very tight areas. Then I made the fatal error of taking a break for dinner.

BMW E30 3 Series are like rescue dogs: They have a habit of just showing up on my doorstep—sometimes literally. And like rescue dogs, I usually can't turn them away. The last three E30s I’ve owned have all come to me on their own.
