A Hazy Shade of Winter-green

Join us for a spirited drive through Albemarle and Nelson Counties as we travel down the valleys and over the mountains! We will start in Charlottesville at the 5th Street Station Shopping Center (Wegman’s parking lot). Proceeding south on 5th Street, we will head out towards North Garden, run across to Nellysford, up over the mountain past Wintergreen. We’ll come back up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and head south to Crabtree Falls Hwy (Rte 56). The final stretch will take us down through the Tye River Valley to Hwy 151. We then head north to our destination at Hazy Mountain Vineyards & Brewery. Here is the plan for the day: 9:40am – Meet in the Wegman’s Parking Lot at 5th Street Station, 100 Wegmans Way, Charlottesville, VA 22902. We’ll be in the back center of the lot near the back side of Timberwood Taphouse. 9:50am – Drivers Meeting 10:00am – Begin the drive. ~11:15pm - 11:35pm – Rest break at Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub, Roseland, VA 22967 ~1:15pm - End the drive at Hazy Mountain Vineyards & Brewery, 240 Hazy Mountain Lane, Afton, VA 22920 The drive route is 111-miles and the entire route is paved. The route is available on the Ride With GPS app on the Blue Ridge Chapter page under the name “Hazy Shade of Winter-green”. It is strongly recommended that you download the route for offline navigation as cell service can become spotty in places along the route. We will meet at the 7-Eleven, 6100 Pouncey Tract Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23059 at 7:45am and leave promptly at 8:00am.
