HPDE Summit Point, Main Circuit

October 16, 2020 to October 18, 2020
You (yes, you) are cordially invited to come drive with us (or spectate, if you prefer) at NCC’s HPDE event on Summit Point Raceway’s Main Circuit, October 16-18, 2020. For those unfamiliar with the NCC HPDE program, HPDE stands for “High Performance Driver Education”.
Summit Point Circuit (aka “Summit Main”) – Summit Point Circuit is a 10-turn, 2.0-mile (3.2 km) road course that features a 2,900-foot (880 m) main straight. Summit Point was the relocated center for club racing in the Mid-Atlantic following the closure of Marlboro Raceway. The original circuit opened in 1969, and the Summit Point Circuit was repaved in the October 2017. Summit Main will offer the highest speeds at Summit Point, thanks to the long main straight. Summit Main has been the host to many professional and amateur races over the years, this is your chance to drive on a bonafide racing surface. Summit Main may seem ‘simple’ at ‘only’ 10 turns compared to the Shenandoah and the Jefferson’s dozen plus; however, Main presents its own unique experience and challenges. We are also holding our first-ever BMW CCA Time Trials on Saturday and Sunday. The Time Trials are available to our instructors and advanced/solo students. Each participant will get a warm-up, qualifying, and 2 timed sessions. Participants can drive their normal “track” car without having to prepare their car beyond what is required for a normal HPDE. We will provide each driver/car with a transponder to record your lap times. The Time Trial Run Group will be divided into 4 different classes based on a combination of horsepower to weight ratio and/or car modifications. Each class will receive an award (and bragging rights) for the best lap time over the two days. For more information about the Time Trials or about required student experience level. Contact the Chief Instructor at: Fridays are now open to Advanced students and Approved Solo drivers! Contact the Registrar if you have questions on your status as a National Capital Chapter Advanced or Approved Solo driver. Students new to NCC must have approval from the Chief Instructor to register for Friday.
