One Project too Many 1987 BMW 325i Red Convertible E30 The tale: Must sell this classic convertible before I get too deep into it. I have too many projects/commitments art the moment. I shouldn’t have acquired it, but this was a true barn find, sitting under wraps for more than 15 years so the seller tells me. Bought it for his granddaughter as a present but she wanted a 4 door sedan and could care less that it was a Bimmer, so it sat. And sat. And sat, until I heard about it in a casual conversation. Went to see it, fell in love with the possibilities and brought it home. The reality – It has issues, mostly wiring from critter damage as one might imagine from being in a barn all those years. I threw a battery in and it started right up, but got shut down fast because of the telltale smoke from the engine bay. The OBDI was shorting itself out. Fast forward a few weeks and after going over the car I admit to myself I have not got the time to do a proper resurrection. Here’s the dope on what I found. Pro: General Odometer reading 89999 • Body is solid, no rust • Muffler visually OK, sounds good • Brake system seems good, • Paint in reasonably good condition, repaint not required • Engine / Trans good. • New Battery • All marker lights and lenses good • Alloy Rims (5) in good condition • Dashboard readouts functional • No glass broken • Electric Windows work, but need adjustment Interior • - Carpet acceptable. Door cards no tears, will clean up nicely • Front and rear seating have been removed completely Frames good, but complete reupholster is needed. Currently the front seats are from a 4-door sedan probably a 3 series BMW as well • Dashboard cracked Exterior • Paint in reasonably good condition, repaint not required • Fog Lamps need new lenses and bulbs • New BMW badges, bonnet and boot replaced • All marker lights and lenses good • Alloy Rims (5) in good condition • Tires are old need replacement • Minor body damage, Drivers side rear • Bumpers have no damage. • Convertible top (black) has a few minor tears in the fabric along the edges. Rear window needs repair / Replace • Frame and tonneau work w/o issues as do windshield locks • Car has only one key. Locks are worn. Mechanical Note: The engine was run for only a minute or two before shut down because of wiring issue • All components present • Headlamps/tail lamps working • FI working • Needs Air filter • Fan works • A/C system is R12 based CAN SUPPLY ADDITIONAL PHOTOS FOR SERIOUS BUYERS Great project car with a lot of potential Looking for $2,000 or best offer.
