Next project. Now that it's cold I'm seeing a lot of oil under the car. I suspect it's leaking from the oil filter housing. Need to replace the gasket and bushings for the oil fitler. Parts on order. Disassembly has begun. I also wonder if the previous owner used dino oil and I switched to synthetic. Still up is to clean the ICV and intake. Now that I'm back to driving my E30, I forgot that one needs an exhaust, suspension is loose when cold and windows don't go down. Oh, and the Mini now has a small oil leak.
Replaced oil filter housing bushing and gasket. No more oil leak. Replaced clamp at at reservoir. So far so good. Still need to clean the ICV and subframe bushigns.
A +15 year old car is never finished. Reduced the water leak in the hatch. I've given up on that. Chasing high idle. And suspension bushings to go.
So I clean the ICV and that doesn't fix it. Replace the regulator valve. Still high idle when warm. Long story short, bad ICV and numerous cracked vacuum hoses. Next rear subframe bushings, LCABs, RCABs.
Yeah I just replaced my oil housing gasket and the very next week the coolant expansion tank cracked! I’m with you on a 15 plus year old car never ends
Ah joy. Just when I thought it was over. CEL flickering. Also the first time I used the AC. Emission (lambda) control Knock control regulation
Now that I've fixed my high idle I figured I'd be getting better gas mileage. I'm still getting 22 mpg local driving.
I wonder if it's just the nature of things as wear, tear, buildup, etc. accumulates to lose some fuel efficiency, regardless?
