    Hey guys,
I have a 2012 E92 M3 with about 89,000 miles on it. Recently at low RPM’s (2500 or less) when I let off the gas, I sometimes hear this noise that sounds like a rattle. It almost sounds like a Diesel engine when it’s idling if that helps at all. It’s barely noticeable and when I drive up next to a wall you can hear it better from the echo. Not sure what this is, rod bearings possibly? I’ve never abused the car over the seven months I’ve owned it and have never redlined the engine.
    Thanks in advance

I don't know all the specifics, but there seems to be a multiplicity of posts here and elsewhere about the rod bearing issue with these motors. Google search: BMW E92 M3 rod bearings & see what comes up.

See if you can take a video of the noise. That would help point to a area to start.
