I've got an odd issue with my gear shift linkage, I suspect. 2001 325i with 66K miles. When shifting to drive the gate is smooth thru reverse and neutral. However from neutral to drive, it hangs up. I have to tilt the shifter slightly towards me as if going into sport/manual mode before it will go to drive without resistance. The transmission itself shifts fine. It has no bearing on weather, temperature or whatever. It happened suddenly last fall and has continued since. Anyone have such an issue?
I would suspect that there is a piece of debris in the shift mechanism or that the button is not pulling the lock all the way out of the way. You'd have to pull it apart to find out.
