I purchased a 2002 M5 from a friend who moved out of state and had always taken the vehicle to Santa Monica BMW for service. Included with the car was an additional warranty from Mercury for another 12 months. He left me an adviser's name and said he knows the car well.

Does anyone have an opinion on SM BMW for service? Can anyone recommend other shops such as New Century (Alhambra), BMW of Monrovia, Bob Smith BMW (Calabasas)?

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

I would really like info on BMW Alhambra as well if anyone wants to chime in. I bought a used Z4 in Humboldt which came from down there - I'm having a few issues. WOuldn't mind if anyone new of general competence from down around there.

I'd suggest Bimmers Clinic located in Reseda (a 30-min drive from Santa Monica). Service is great, shop is super-clean, and they are open on Saturdays.

George, the owner, is a fanatic about the details and really knows his BMW's.

They have serviced my E46 and are just starting to serivce my E85 M.

He is also a big supporter of the BMW LA Chapter (advertises in the Whispering Bomb newletter, usually on the back cover).

Tell him that Kurt sent you over.
