Rory McIlroy Wins 2012 BMW Championship World's No. 1 Golfer Wins His Second Consecutive FedExCup Playoff Event Carmel, I.N. – September 9, 2012… The world's top-ranked golfer, Rory McIlroy, continued his impressive run Sunday, winning the 2012 BMW Championship against one of the strongest fields in golf this year. McIlroy opened play on Thursday by shooting an 8-under 64 and finished with a final round of 67 to seal the victory. He has now won three of his last four tournaments and becomes only the fourth player to win consecutive legs of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. All proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation. Since 2007, the BMW Championship has raised more than $11 million for the Evans Scholars Foundation, the nation's largest privately funded, full-tuition college scholarship program.
