Refurbished and painted e31 Brembo aluminum 4-piston calipers with e46 M3 floating rotors and Hawk HPS pads.

Bolts right on to the e36 M Roadster/Coupe or M3 wheel carrier.

The only problem is that my CSL replicas don't have enough clearance for the outboard side of the calipers. So, I ended up with 18mm of spacers to get enough clearance and the tires now scrub the inner fender wells under hard cornering.

Anybody got recommendations for alternative wheels that would get rid of the spacers?

Search for a type of track wheel. Track wheels typically have the clearance for Big Brake kits and usually don't require large spacers. Maybe a smaller spacer, but that's good enough.

    Problem solved!

I'd bet the nineteen-inch Dinan wheels would clear. . .

Oh: You probably didn't want to hear that. Sorry.

Hey: You could get rid of those obnoxious brakes by giving them to somebody whose wheels will clear the calipers! I'll bet I could name you a Z4 driver who would be willing to help out!

Its only a budget upgrade if you can find the E31 calipers cheap.

I sure can't find any for anywhere near a "budget" price.
