Having recently acquired a Z4 M Roadster I couldn't help but notice that the different Z4 chassis variants aren't completely and properly represented in the forum descriptions.

In the Z Series Forums there is an "E85 Z4 (2002-2008)" sub-forum which is the Roadster, but no mention of the Coupe, the E86 Chassis. I propose renaming this forum to "E85/6 Z4 (2002-2008)". The Z3 variants are properly represented as the "E36/7 (1998-2003)" sub-forum.

In the M Series Forums there is a Z Series sub-forum and in that sub-forum there is an "E86 Z4 (2002-20088)" sub-forum which is the Coupe, but no mention of the Roadster, the E85 chassis. This almost implies that the Z4 M Roadster isn't actually an ///M! I propose renaming this forum to "E85/6 Z4 M (2002-2008)". The Z3 M variants are properly represented as the "E36/8 M (1998-2003)" sub-forum.
    Thanks!

I'm seeing two forums now. I think the proposal was just to rename the existing one with the E85/6 designation which would be for coupe & roadster. I think.

    Ah, no, sorry Steven!

Just for clarification the chassis designations for the Z3 and Z4 are/were:

E36/7: Z3 Roadster and M Roadster (1996-2002) (not to be confused with the 3 Series E36 because the Z3 used the E36 chassis)
E36/8: M Coupe (no Z3 Coupe) (1996-2002) (again, not to be confused with the 3 Series E36)

During their production the Z3 M Roadster and Z3 M Coupe were originally known only as the M Roadster and the M Coupe (No Z3 designation. It was only after the introduction of the Z4 M Roadster and M Coupe did some people start adding the Z3 added for clarification).

    E85: Z4 Roadster and Z4 M Roadster (2002-2008)
    E86: Z4 Coupe and Z4 M Coupe (2002-2008)

    E89: Z4 Roadster (2009-present, a hardtop convertible, hence no Z4 Coupe)

    In my original request I should have stated that the Z Series "E85 Z4 (2002-2008)" sub-forum should be renamed to "E85 & E86 Z4 (2002-2008)" and the M Series/Z Series "E86 Z4 (2002-2008)" forum should be renamed to "E85 & E86 Z4 M (2002-2008)". Specifying them as the E85 & E86 forum removes the confusion caused by the fact that the two Z3 chassis designations were the E36/7 (Z3 and M Roadster) and the E36/8 (M Coupe).

    Are we completely confuZed now?

    Z3 chassis was part E30.

    Still confused.
    Shouldn't a Z4 M coupe and Z4 M roadster have separate forums?

The E90/E92/E93 M3 versions (sedan, coupe, convertible) are grouped together, so no, probably not. Although there's no E91 (touring) version! That probably needs to be changed as well!

    Not in the US.
    Maybe not an M touring.
Does BMW make anything that they don't stick an M badge on it anymore?

I combined the two but may regret it.
    No turning back.

    I think that we're almost there for the Z4 and Z4 M. I see that you now have a "E85/E86 Z4 M roadster/coupe (2007-2008)" sub-forum in the Model Discussions / M Series / Z Series sub-forum so the Z4 M roadsters and coupes are properly covered.

All that's left is the non-M Z4 in the Model Discussions / Z Series sub-forum. You have both am "E85 Z4 (2006-2008)" sub-forum and an "E85/6 (2002-2008)" sub-forum. The second one (with no posts) should be deleted and the first one should be titled "E85/E86 Z4 roadster/coupe (2002-2008)". This will properly cover the non-M Z4 roadsters and coupes.
