The car: '95 540i - 6 speed - 153k miles I will need to replace my original muffler and cat soon and am wondering what is recommended? I don't mind getting an OEM muffler, but it would be cool to add a little more rumble sound if I could. Can I delete my cat or would mess things up with the ECU and O2 sensors?
I had to change mine out and I went with a B&B cat back system. It has a nice growl now. I dont know about removing the cats. I know in the state I live in I would never get through inspections every 2 years.
Lots of opinions on mufflers out there. However I have always been advised (Mike Miller of Tech Talk and others) to go with the BMW OEM cat. They have said the cheaper non-OEM ones always seem to wear out sooner.
