Not sure where I got the information, But the newer 335i are single turbo's? what year did they start doing that? I think it is now a option for a twin turbo?
The twin turbo engine is called the N54 it was a 3 liter in line 6 with double vanos. The new engine called the N55 is a 3 liter with double vanos, and valvetronic. The N55 uses a single turbo with twin scroll technology. Both engine produce the same power. I believe the N55 started in the 3 series in late 10 production vehicles.
We still have some vehicle's that have the N54 in them but in the 3 series they are no longer avaliable.
The BMW web site advertised the 335i as a twin turbo for 2014.Did they go back to the twin turbo N54? I was just wondering, I'm not up on all the changes. And no more 2 door models.
The former two-door 3-series models are now the 4-series cars; 2-series replaces the 1-series, and are also 2-dr. coupes.
So I guess they are still calling them a twin turbo, but they are really twin scroll? The add says twin turbo.
I went back and read the add again. It says "twin power" which I take it as meaning 1 turbo. The 425 hp version says it has combines 2 turbo's.
