how do I fix this broken stud?

    Okay so can anyone tell me the best fix this broken stud?

    I sheared the bolt off trying to get the nut off. I need to know if in fact this is a stud simply screwed into the unibody, or if perhaps it is welded on.
    The other side (the unbroken one) looks like this for reference:

    I do have a new stud from the hardware store and would like to know if anyone else had this problem... and can tell me if I'm on the right track in re-threading the hole and mounting a new stud...thanks!

    Have you tried a vicegrips on that stub of a stud? Seems like that's just a ground wire connection point---is that correct? You could easily make a ground wire connection next to that one, if you're just concerned with functionality. Terry
