I want to add a hitch to my 2005 X5, and the price tag from BMW is pretty steep. Has anyone added a aftermarket hitch and had a positive experience? I have a boat to pull, and in addition to the BMW price being high i am told that they are changing suppliers and you cant even order one at this time
Yes I have an X3 and it is essentiall the same I bought a Draw tight hitch and it ffit perfectly However use the dealer trailer connector ( wiring harness) Yes the bumper has to be removed to instll the hitch but it not that hard to do I am nto sure of the X5 as far as a cutout for the hitch that you will have to check out and the installation instructions with any of the main hitches will help you there You can go online and get the instructions on how to install the hitch without buying one Now the trailer brake is another problem if you need to wire it up to trailer braking system Dr Dave
