This comes to us from our sisters and brothers in the Connecticut Valley Chapter...

    "Chasing Classic Cars"
    Open House F-40 Motorsports

    Date: Saturday, May 2, 2009
Time: 10 AM to 3 PM, weather permitting
Place: 464 Portland-Cobalt Rd. (Rt. 66), Portland, CT

Please plan to join fellow sports and classic car enthusiasts from around the area at F-40 Motorsports in Portland CT for this annual event.

Mr. Wayne Carini will be holding an Open House providing a behind the scene peek at the venue for "Chasing Classic Cars", a TV show shown on Discovery HD Theater.

We are invited to "bring our beautiful automobiles and admire others". They will be filming an episode for the TV series that day, so make sure your ride is all spiffed up. The event is subject to weather permitting conditions, so if there is any doubt on the morning of the event, please go to their website www.f40.com to verify.

Since we (BMWCCA - CVC), as an organized group, may add significantly to the number of attendees, please send me an e-mail at jjones@ctvallley.org so I can let them know how many to expect.

If any of you have seen the TV show you may have glimpsed a 2002 in some stage of restoration. And although not a BMW specialist, F-40 Motorsports and their associated business Continental Auto Body, surely have the ability and know-how to produce "Pebble Beach-quality" results.

This promises to be a very interesting event.

Directions: F-40 is located on Rt. 66, about a mile east of where Rt. 17 and 66 turn right after crossing the Portland Bridge in Middletown. (I'm sure you can all find your way - or go to MapQuest if you don't have a nav system

Thanks Scott & Bev for posting this.

I'm definitely planning to be there!

I was there last Saturday for the monthly (first Saturday of each month) Cars & Coffee event. The weather wasn't great, so the turn out was low, but they definitely have some interesting cars in the show room.

I'm going to try for it

I'll be there, if I can get away. I may bring a friend with his 81 911. Sounds like it should be a good day. Lance, I was parked two cars down on the Pruven performance dyno day. Let's hope the weather turns out to be just as good at F-40

I love that show! Sure wish it was close enough to my area to make the drive. How about posting a few pics when you can.

Just an FYI, the shop "F-40 Motorsports" is not affiliated with BMWCCA, FCA, PCA, etc. It is just a get together.

About a 1/4 of a mile west of the F-40 is a hot dog stand that is inside a trailer shaped like a hotdog in a bun (with relish). The tow vehicle is a Checker Marathon. :)

I'll certainly plan to take and post some pics. I was there for their monthly (1st Saturday of each month) Cars & Coffee get together earlier in the month and they had a few interesting cars, but just a few. E Jag roadster, Real Cobra race car, apparently street legal Ferrari 330 Le Mans car, Ferrari 275 coupe, and a few newer Mercedes etc.

Hopefully the weather next weekend will be the same as this weekend!!! At the CVC board meeting on Friday, they said there are about 40ish Chapter members planning to attend. If that many people really show up it will severely overflow their facilities.
