Hi everyone, I am the second owner of a low mile, properly imported 1986 Euro M5. The first owner hired Fall Line Motorsport that worked with Dinan to install a turbo system. It uses a “Split-Second” fuel injection system. Turner Motorsport in Massachusetts was familiar with the setup and maintained her but they no longer offer street car service. Can anyone recommend a company, preferably near New England or that can tune my car with the current “Split-Second” unit or offer a modern fuel injection upgrade? I reached out to Fall Line, Split-Second and the newly relaunched Steve Dinan company but no one has replied. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Perhaps it would make a great article for this forum or Roundel?
Unsure what you mean by modern fuel injection upgrade... trying to use something like the hpfp injectors of more recent BMW engines than the solenoid-operated fuel injectors? Maybe somebody's done something like that but it seems like that would be highly customized since differing era hardwares would have to be adapted to each other. Tuner shops that have a high quality dyno presumably would have the equipment and knowledge to do runs to tune fuel maps, measure a/f ratios, and use however your system works to make adjustments. That's possibly specialized enough you just have to google up and research what's in your area or range. Hopefully the turbo is well-tuned now, is the idea to push more air and fuel for more power or do things that just need maintenance? Do you have any components list of what's added? If you know the split-second setup then you could figure if how it works and what it does accomplishes what you want. There are other tuning setups - megasquirt for instance.
