I recently purchased an E46 M3 Pheonix Yellow Convertible. 1 week after ownership the top completely stopped working. I found that the wire harness going along the LH rail had a wire severed and a few chaffed. Thus, I spliced the wire (Soldered them & shrink wrap). The top worked great for about 30 articulations. Now the when I push the top DOWN button, the status light at the push button is orange. Nothing works... the windows do not go down, the pump does not work.. So, I manually opened the top with an allen wrench so I could inspect the wires. They are all OK. If I push the top DOWN button it remains orange (the pump does start) When I push the top UP button, the top closes as it should. (pump works, auto clamp system works..) My guess is that a position sensor somewhere is failed. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, John
