I've got mild/moderation oxidation on my E30 aluminum trim and have had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to remove it, or if it's even possible. I know the trim is clear coated, but I'm not sure if it's anodized. I've been told at Autogeek that if it's anodized there's not much that can be done. Does the clear coat have to be sanded off and recoated (as with the BavAuto.com product/Classic TrimCoat product)? I've heard mixed reports about the success of this approach. Or will a fine polish or paint cleaner work? Has anyone had success with this problem on an E30?

I don't get it. Is your trim clear coated? If so, how/why would this metal polish work. It is made to work on bare (uncoated) metal isn't it? My trim has clear coat.

your right, but if your clear coat isnt looking like it has much life left in it, the polish might be worth a try. I would give griots a call.
