Last Friday night, 6 Dec 2024. 2024 BMW 330i I'd stopped to get gas around 9pm and could not get the gas cap back on to secure the fuel port after I had finished pumping. Felt like an idiot there in the cold (Maryland) trying to figure it out. Googled a few things but nothing very helpful. I finally was able to manually rotate the white plastic collar/ring 90 degrees on the gas cap back to where it latched into a new position and it locked on just fine. I stopped by the dealership to ask about this the following day, but that was not helpful. They had never heard of anything like this happening. I was starting to think I had missed some tune up interval for my gas cap, lol. I've seen a few related Internet posts on this since but no "a-ha". Has anyone seen/heard this happening before?
