My E30 has been plaguing me with various Check lights on my check panel. One of them I understand completely - License Plate - because one of my bulbs is out. But, the other two I just don't get. Rare others come on but I know exactly why those rear their ugly heads. But, the following two stump me:

First one is the Brake light. All of my brake lights work fine, and when I start the car, the light usually doesn't illuminate (I keep my foot on the brake when starting). It isn't until some driving that it illuminates as soon as I press on the brake pedal. What is this?

The other is the Coolant light. I had a major cooling system overhaul a little while ago (no more than half a year) and that included a new coolant level sensor. I checked my coolant and it was fine; the level wasn't really low. So, with a new sensor, what else could cause it? Last I checked into the resevoir, there was a little bit of dirt (I know, I know, I'm getting the system flushed very soon). Would this cause the light to come on?
