My wife has a 2007 328i coupe and just recently the on board computer is displaying the symbol that relates to "bulb of exterior lighting system failed". I have checked all the exterior lamps, but find that every thing is working. Has anyone got an idea as what else to check.
    Thanks

How many miles? If under 50K still covered under warrenty. I would call your nearest service center to schedule an appointment there might be a bulletin.

Thank you for your advice. The car only has been driven 12000 miles. So it is still under warranty.

    You are not alone!

I have also heard about a headlight housing replacement plus reprogramming fix that is extremely disturbing - especially when I consider that the exterior lighting on my 1995 3 series worked flawlessly.

I guess BMW is trying to get me to buy an Audi or something. Between non-stop glitches (from HPFP failure on 335i models to erroneous door ajar messages to this problem to the RFT debacle to the non-stop squealing of MY brakes) it seems BMW has created the Ultimate Tin Can. I guess that is going a little too far, but I am not the only Bimmer-phile I know who is seriously considering walking away from a brand they used to love.

I just re-read that last post...WOW....I am a negative SOB.

After giving my dealer all fives on the survey, I just feel like I have been shafted yet again.

I give all fives all the time in an effort to remain on solid footing (and friendly ground) at the dealership. Despite this, I am very disappointed in the maintenance of my vehicle.

Some people report dealers who see seat belt scuff marks on aluminum trim and say "Sir, we replace the aluminum trim free of charge, the damage from the belt is covered by warranty." Not me.

While I think that is above and beyond the call of service duty, at least it lives up to its billing -- ULTIMATE. So far, I am not receivng ultimate service and this might be my ultimate BMW purchase built after 1995. Thank you, end rant. (note to self: no more coffee)
