I am picking up my "new" 2005 CPO X5 4.4i this Wednesday and brake pads will be the first upgrade/change I make. Even though it only has 30k miles, and has just gone thru the CPO process, these pads are going. I refuse the live with the horribly excessive brake dust generated by OE brake pads. They OE pads are very good and work well, but there are other alternatives for many other models that work as well or better. I have the Hawk Ceramics on my M5 which stop very well and have virtually no Black residue. It leaves a very light coating that is not black nor caustic to wheel finishes. There are several manufacturers that have ceramic options for many Models. I have had good luck Hawk Products in the past so I will give them another try.
