2003 330Ci Cab w/32K miles. The air bag light came on a few days ago. Is there a particular sensor or switch that may be the most likely problem?
The only way to find out is to scan it. Possibly the seat belt buckle or a seat occupancy sensor. They were common problems on the E36. Get thee to an independent BMW mechanic with a Snap-On MT2500 or Modus, a Launch X431, Autologic, or GT1.
I dont know about the E46, but I know on the E36 the airbag light will come on if you even think about doing anything electrical. Mine's on, I have the SRS reset tool but I have a bad harness I think so it won't clear. Its the tensioner harness, Im just lazy and dont feel like pulling my seat out to look at it.
