2010 650i , 12 mo old with ~10k miles on it. I was moving the car back into the garage after washing - the steering was much heavier than usual & a warning light appeared in the Nav window that the Active Steering System was Reinitiating. It took 2-3 minutes for the car to think this through- the warning went away & steering returned to typical force requirements. I see nothing in the manual about this. Why did it find the need to reset itself? This seems potentially dangerous if this had occurred while driving at speed. I'm no wimp & the steering force needed went WAY up for those 2 minutes.
