Change this before it happens to you! Don't know if its on all E36's Plastic throttle cable clip, which connects the throttle cable to the pedal at the rod on top of accelerator pedal disintegrated and thus stranded me. Luckily had a bit of duct tape and cable tie as this kind of thing always happens at night on a Sunday, 50 miles from BMW store who doesn't stock the part anyway. Its the only connection between the throttle cable and throttle pedal. I keep a extra in my emergency repair kit next to the spare tire now.
