Not going to the dealer is the whole reason why he's in this position in the first place. Buying used motors can lead to many other headaches as well. Had he gone to the dealer in the first place he would have had a new motor on BMW.

I think you're making a lot of assumptions that may not be true.

it's no assumption that increased OCIs help this situation by reducing sludge potential. Extended OCI's REALLY aggravate this issue....
