here's a mystery for you BMW detectives... my 06 z43.0si has the sport package, no aftermarket suspension stuff other than a strut brace bar, and good old regular (not run-flat) tires. Recently, anytime I hit any kind of bump while turning the wheel, I hear these strange thuds? Sounds almost like something right in front of the dash. Any ideas what might be making this new clunk? Also, when I'm backing out of my driveway, I get a strange "boing" from the back suspension? I love the car, but the strange noises are making me a little nervous. (Of course, the noises started right after the warranty ran out!)
Odd thumping: sound like a bowling ball in the dash? Check to see that the diagonal braces in the engine compartment are cinched down. . . that proved to be the cause when my car made those noises. . .
