Drove my daughters 328 yesterday. Transmission shifts hard going back into low. Is this common? Also car misses and carries on at idle. Has 75 k. Don't know service history so I'm hoping the rough running idle is just in need of ignition tune up. Thoughts?

The ignition coils are problematic on that model so it is possible they have started to fail. Should do spark plugs with those coils. For the transmission shift concern first thing to check with any trans issues is to check for leaks around the transmission.

I can't speak to transmission, I have a manual and a shift into "low" from "Drive" can always be "hard" depending on revs.

As for idle, at 75,000 and depending on the quality of gas used and how often your daughter drives it over 4,000 rpm, you may want to add a can of SeaFoam to a full tank of gas to get carbon deposits out.
