I just had my oil changed at my expense on my 2009 335D. I believe the 15,000 mile intervals are too long. The dealer charged for an additive made by Zak they claim they now use on all oil changes. Is this just a profit center or are there real benefits?

I suggest you review your BMW Owner's Manual to see what it suggests regarding any oil additives or not.

Just a guess, but I would say this is a dealer-added item, without BMW's stamp of approval.

BTW, I agree... 15K intervals are far too long.

    Owners Manual

The manual states clearly no additives. I've posed the question to BMW but they have yet to respond. Annoying. They are probably contacting the dealer to get their stories straight.
